Client awarded compensation after developing contact dermatitis
Our client was employed as a bolter and became a top skin driller, even though no formal training was received.
During this time, inadequate safety equipment was provided. This included gloves that were not waterproof and glasses that only covered the front of the eyes, allowing the exposure of particles and fumes to the side.
Sore red patches of skin started to develop under the eyes and nose, and they were diagnosed with contact dermatitis.
The defendant continued to deny liability until two weeks before the trial. The claim then settled for a substantial sum.
