Update on recent dog attack settlements
Attack on Footpath
Our client was walking along a footpath when she was set upon by a Doberman dog that had escaped from the garden of a nearby property. She sustained a significant bite to her arm from the attack. She was assisted by a passer-by who helped her to fight the dog off. Liability for this incident although initially denied was eventually conceded by the dog owner's insurers and our client received £2,000.00 damages for the injuries that she sustained.
Child Dog Attack
Our client, a two year old child was with his mother at their local bank when he was attacked and bitten on his left ear. Liability was disputed by the owner of the dog but following negotiations our client received a compensation award of £4,500.00 which was subsequently approved by his local Court.
Workplace Dog Attacks
Our client was visiting a property as part of her employment. As she stood in the hallway she was attacked by a Rottweiler dog owned by the householder. She received the sum of £4,500.00 compensation for the injuries and scars that she was left with from this incident.
Our client was at work when he was bitten by one of his customer's dogs. Liability was eventually accepted by the dog owner's insurers and he received the sum of £3,000.00 for compensation for the bite injury that he sustained to his thigh as a result of the attack.
Delivery Dog Attack
Our client was making a delivery to a property when he was attacked and bitten by the house holder's Alsation dog. He received the sum of £2,650.00 for his injuries and a brief period that he had to take off work as a result of the injuries he sustained.
Letterbox Dog Bite
Our client, a teenager, was delivering leaflets to a property when she was bitten by the house holder's Alsation dog through the letterbox. She received the sum of £1,650.00 for the injury that she sustained to her finger as a result of the bite.
